General Information

Famotidine is a medication used to treat conditions related to excess stomach acid, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), ulcers, and heartburn. It belongs to a class of drugs called H2 blockers, which work by reducing the amount of acid the stomach produces. Famotidine provides relief from symptoms like acid indigestion and helps prevent and heal ulcers in the stomach and intestines. It is available both over-the-counter and by prescription, and is generally well-tolerated with minimal side effects.

Directions

Adults (12y.o. and above)

• Duodenal ulcer – 40mg once daily at bedtime or 20 mg 2 times daily.
• Prophylaxis of recurrent duodenal ulcer – 20mg at bedtime.
• Gastric ulcer – 40mg once daily at bedtime.
• Gastro-esophageal reflux – 20mg 2 times daily for up to 6 weeks
